My Bio
R.Y. Arts founder and principal Royal York Funston has 14 years of experience as a graphic designer and photographer in the entertainment industry. He has worked with artists and companies including Ben Folds, Duran Duran, Jeff Dunham, LL Cool J, SPIN, VIBE, American Express, Emporio Armani, Levity, Reebok and Target.
A native Southern Californian, York graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television, Film & New Media Production from San Diego State University in 1996.
York relocated to Los Angeles in 1998 to join LAUNCH Media and produce a monthly CD-ROM magazine and website about new music and film. LAUNCH became Yahoo! Music, where as Director of Production he worked with top entertainers and corporate clients to make it the #1 online destination for music fans.
York left Yahoo! in 2003 to start an L.A.-based arts and culture web destination. Over the next five years, he oversaw the production of hundreds of influential editorials and interviews with popular artists, authors and musicians.
In 2008, York and his family moved to Portland, Oregon, where he established R.Y. Arts to continue serving the branding and design needs of entertainment industry professionals.
York also creates fine art projects such as L.A. Rock Fan, Once Around, and The Anthony Project.
